The Faculty of Science at University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) invites applications for a lecturer in Forensic Chemistry to commence on July 1, 2014 in our undergraduate Forensic Science and Chemistry programs. Position is subject to budgetary approval.
The successful candidate should possess a graduate degree (PhD required) in Chemistry (or equivalent). Preference will be given to individuals with demonstrated forensic chemistry experience and expertise in chemistry disciplines and techniques relevant to modern forensic applications, such as chromatography, spectroscopy, microscopy, drug chemistry and toxicology, as well as quality assurance principles and protocols applicable to forensic laboratories. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 8 standard courses or equivalent a year.
Duties will include preparing and delivering lectures and tutorials; preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations; responding to student inquiries; maintaining regular office hours; and invigilating tests and examinations. The successful candidate would be expected to mentor students as well as liaise with members of the forensic science community in Canada and elsewhere. In keeping with our technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless connectivity, strong technical skills are essential and experience with Blackboard is an asset.
