The Faculty of Health Sciences is accepting applications for a core faculty position in the Health Sciences program. This appointment will be a tenure-stream position at the Assistant Professor rank. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July 1, 2014, or at a mutually agreeable time, preferably no later than August 15, 2014.
We are seeking an applicant with a strong academic background and demonstrated achievement in teaching and a research profile in human nutrition with a community or public health focus. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the areas of nutrition across a variety of programs including Kinesiology, Nursing, Public Health and Human Health Sciences.
Candidates with expertise in nutrition as a determinant of health are encouraged to apply. The applicant’s research may encompass healthy individuals across the lifespan, as well as at-risk individuals and/or groups with chronic conditions and/or nutrition-related disorders. Additionally, expertise in food security, nutrition policy and/or the evaluation of community-based health and social programs would be considered. Preference will be given to applicants who are registered dietitians.
Additionally, successful applicants will have a research focus which aligns with the strategic research directions of the Faculty, including integrated approaches to the understanding, identification, prevention and management of complex chronic conditions and disabilities; and promoting health in vulnerable individuals/groups.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant health sciences discipline and post-doctoral training will be considered an asset. He/she will also have a demonstrated ability to develop and provide high quality curriculum; excellent communication skills; a willingness to work collegially; and will be expected to play an integral role in the growth, development and identity of the Faculty of Health Sciences programs.
